Norbert Winkeljohann

Chairman of Supervisory Board at Bayer

Prof. Dr. Norbert Winkeljohann has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bayer AG since April 28, 2020. He took up this position at the end of the Annual Stockholders' Meeting 2020, succeeding Werner Wenning. Winkeljohann has been a member of the Supervisory Board since May 2018.

Norbert Winkeljohann was born on November 5, 1957 in Osnabrück, Germany. He began studying business administration and economics at the Westfälische Wilhelms University in Münster in 1978, graduating with a degree in business administration. He then continued his academic education at the Department of Accounting, Taxes and Auditing of the University of Hagen, where he received his doctorate in economics (Dr. rer. pol.).

Since 1986, Winkeljohann initially worked as an audiT assistant in the bank auditing section. After passing his tax consultancy exam and then his accountancy exam, he worked as a tax consultant in the area of international tax until 1992. In 1993 he worked as a tax and management consultant in London.

In 1994 he joined the then auditing company PricewaterhouseCoopers AG as a partner and was appointed to the Board of Management in 1999. From 2010 to June 2018, Winkeljohann was Chairman of the Management Board of PricewaterhouseCoopers GmbH, Chairman of the Board of Management of PricewaterhouseCoopers Europe SE and member of the Network Leadership Team of PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited. Since July 2018 he has been working as an independent management consultant.

Since 2010 Winkeljohann has been an honorary professor at the University of Osnabrück and since 2017 at the Goethe University Frankfurt.
