Kai Ying

Kai Ying is an experienced bioinformatician currently serving as the Senior Director of Bioinformatics at Baylor Genetics since July 2022. Previously, Kai held the position of Director of Bioinformatics at Columbia University's Precision Genomics Laboratory, where responsibilities included strategic planning and developing clinical NGS data analysis pipelines. Prior roles include Senior Bioinformatic Scientist at Sema4 Genomics, where Kai developed a cloud-based variant calling pipeline, and significant contributions at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, focusing on clinical oncology genomic platforms. Early in the career, Kai worked at the Center for Prostate Disease Research and NHGRI, specializing in genomic mutation identification and statistical modeling for structural variation. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Genomics, Genetics, and Bioinformatics from Iowa State University and a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology.
