Gary Sondermeyer

Gary Sondermeyer currently serves as Vice President of Operations at Bayshore Recycling Corp., a role held since July 2010, where responsibilities include overseeing the completion of the company's Eco-Complex and Energy Campus amid the operation of several NJDEP permitted facilities. Prior to this, Gary Sondermeyer was Chief of Staff and Director of Operations for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection from November 1996 to July 2010, managing day-to-day operations for a 3,100-employee agency with a $260 million budget. This role included significant leadership positions within various boards and commissions, as well as coordination of statewide homeland security efforts. Earlier experience includes serving as Assistant Commissioner for Environmental Regulation and Director of the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste, in addition to a Vice Presidency at Compost America Holding Company. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in City and Regional Planning with a focus on Environmental Planning and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, both from Rutgers University.
