Erika Mik has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Erika started their career in 2007 at C1000 Alma Ten Boer, where they worked as a cashier, product restocker, fish seller, and liquor seller. Erika then transitioned to Eet Cafe Bie Jose in 2009, where they served as a kitchen staff member until 2012.

In 2012, Erika spent a half year as a student at Kyoto University of Foreign Languages in Japan, focusing on the study of the Japanese language. Erika then continued their education at Leiden University, where they completed a Pre-Master program in Asian Studies with a concentration in Japan from 2014 to 2015. Erika ultimately obtained their Master's degree in East Asian Studies from Leiden University in 2016.
