Mietta McFarlane has a diverse work experience in the advertising industry. Mietta began their career as an intern at M&CSaatchi in 2010 before moving on to work as a junior copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather from 2011 to 2012. Mietta then worked as a copywriter at Droga5, Australia from 2012 to 2015. McFarlane then joined Droga5, where they started as a senior copywriter from 2015 to 2021 before being promoted to creative director from February 2021 to May 2021. Following their tenure at Droga5, they joined Squarespace as a creative director from May 2021 to May 2023. Currently, they hold the position of creative director at BBDO Worldwide, starting from April 2023.

Mietta McFarlane attended Queenwood School from 1996 to 2004. Mietta then pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography, History, and Film Studies at UNSW from 2006 to 2009.
