Gail Murphy is a prominent academic and entrepreneur, serving as Vice-President Research and Innovation at The University of British Columbia since 1996, where additional roles have included Professor, Associate Vice President Research & International pro tem, and Associate Dean (Research & Graduate Studies) in the Faculty of Science. As a co-founder of Tasktop Technologies since 2007, Gail has contributed to enhancing productivity for programmers and information workers. Involvement on various boards includes Science World British Columbia, Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, Digital Research Alliance of Canada, Innovate BC, and previously the Digital Technology Supercluster. Early career experience includes a role as Software Developer at MPR Teltech from 1987 to 1992. Gail holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Washington, a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Alberta, and completed the Institute of Corporate Directors Directors Education Program at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management in 2023.
