Deneka Michaud has a wide range of experience in communications and media, spanning over 17 years. Deneka is currently serving as the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) at the BC Public School Employers' Association since September 2021. Prior to that, they were the Director of External Communications and Brand Management at BC Housing from March 2020 to September 2021.
From February 2016 to March 2020, Deneka worked as the Communications Manager at the North Vancouver School District #44. Deneka also served as the Manager of Communications and Marketing at the Delta School District 37, British Columbia from May 2011 to February 2016.
Deneka began their career in the media industry as a Reporter/Producer at Delta Cable from June 2006 to May 2011. During the same time, they also worked as a Freelance Reporter at North Shore News from May 2006 to November 2009.

Deneka Michaud (she/her) holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Communication, Leadership and Conflict Management from Royal Roads University, which they obtained from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Graduate Certificate in Professional Communication Management from the same institution from 2012 to 2013. Deneka also holds an Honours Degree in Journalism from Carleton University, which they earned from 2000 to 2004. In addition to their education, they have obtained the Accredited Public Relations (APR) certification from the Canadian Public Relations Society in 2019. Deneka has also completed a certification in Gamification from Coursera, although the exact time of completion is unknown.
