Gavin Francis, CAMS

Gavin Francis, CAMS, has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Gavin began their career as a Mathematics Tutor at the Lobban Institute for Mathematics in 2007. In 2011, Gavin worked as a Teller at Scotiabank before transitioning to the First Heritage Co-Operative Credit Union. At First Heritage, they served as a Pension Administrator from 2011 to 2013, followed by a role as Senior Supervisor in Pension Administration from 2013 to 2016. Gavin then took on the position of Manager of Risk and Compliance, where they administered the Board-approved Enterprise Risk Management and Anti-Money Laundering Programmes across the Credit Union Group. In 2017, Gavin joined Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited as the Manager of Enterprise Risk Management for Operational Risk, where they successfully administered a group-wide operational risk management framework. Currently, Gavin holds the position of Senior Risk & Financial Analyst at BC Financial Services Authority, where they contribute to the identification and ongoing monitoring of key risk indicators.

Gavin Francis, CAMS, has a diverse education history. In 2001, they obtained a High School Diploma and Sixth Form Certificate from Cornwall College. Following that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from The University of the West Indies, Mona, from 2008 to 2011.

In 2012, Gavin furthered their education by obtaining a certificate in Securities and Portfolio Management from Fitz Ritson and Associates. Concurrently, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Quantitative Finance at the University of London, completing it in 2015.

In 2017, Gavin attended York University, where they obtained a Certificate in Risk Management. To enhance their professional qualifications, they earned several certifications. These include being a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), which they achieved in December 2021 through ACAMS. Gavin also obtained the ISO 31000 Certified Risk Manager certification from PECB in July 2016 and became a licensed Investment Advisor Representative through the Financial Services Commission, Jamaica, in February 2013. Additionally, Gavin acquired the "Microsoft Office Master" certification from IACT International Academy of Computer Training in September 2018.
