Leo Hoar, PhD

Leo Hoar, PhD, is a highly experienced UX research professional currently serving as UX Research Manager at Beam Benefits since July 2019. In this role, Leo has developed a responsive UX research practice that supports various company functions, including product, design, sales, and marketing. Significant achievements include leading strategy-level research, implementing a Rolling Research program, and establishing a behavioral design discipline. Previously, Leo held positions as Principal and Senior UX Researcher at Beam Benefits, a UX Researcher and UX Writer at Samsung Mobile, and worked as a freelance design researcher and consultant. With a notable background in higher education, Leo has managed programs at The Ohio State University and UC Irvine while securing federal grants and enhancing academic support services at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Leo holds a B.A. from Georgetown University, a Master’s Degree from Fordham University, and a Ph.D. from UC Irvine in English Language and Literature.
