Bob Quane

Bob Quane is currently the Chief Underwriting Officer at Beazley. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Underwriting Officer at AXIS Capital from February 2019 to October 2021. Bob has also held the position of Director at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from October 2017 to October 2021.

Bob began their career at AIG in July 1996, where they eventually became the Head of Global Commercial Property. In this role, they were responsible for leading portfolio refreshes for Large Limit, Middle Market and Terrorism to ensure strong underwriting, updated policy wordings and streamlined underwriting processes. Bob also worked with actuaries and modelers to strengthen the technical benchmarks and cat loads, respectively. Under their leadership, the team was able to dramatically-reshape the book and reduce the cat load by 3 points in the CR.

Bob is a highly collaborative leader, who has experience working with all functional areas within an organization, including Distribution, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, ERM, Operations, IT, Legal and Global Multinational teams. Bob is dedicated to optimizing underwriting decisions and balancing risk quality and technical benchmarks. Bob's efforts are projected to improve the loss ratio by 2 points.

Bob Quane's educational career began with a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Bob continued their education at IES Vienna.
