Frank Wiegand MD PhD

Dr. Frank Wiegand has a progressive work experience in the medical and pharmaceutical field that spans over three decades. Frank currently holds the position of Chief Medical Officer at Beckley Psytech, where they are leading the team in research, development, and delivery of psychedelic medicines. Prior to joining Beckley Psytech in 2021, Dr. Wiegand worked at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, where they served as Vice President of Global Medical Affairs and Market Access for Neurosciences from 2014 to 2021. Frank also held the position of Vice President of Global Medical Affairs for Neurosciences from 2010 to 2014 at the same company. Before that, Dr. Wiegand worked as the Global Medical Affairs Leader for CNS & Pain at Johnson & Johnson from 2007 to 2010.

Dr. Wiegand's career also includes significant roles at Ortho-McNeil Janssen Scientific Affairs Inc. from 2000 to 2007, where they served as Sr. Director of Clinical Development Neuroscience, Director of Global Medical Marketing Neurology, Product Director of Psychiatry, and Product Director of Neurology. In addition, they gained valuable experience at the University of Duisburg-Essen as a Senior House Officer in 1999 and as a Senior House Officer at the Department of Neurology, University of Essen from 1998 to 1999. Dr. Wiegand started their professional journey as a Research Fellow of the German Stroke Foundation at Humboldt University of Berlin from 1996 to 1997. Frank began their medical career as a Junior House Officer at the Department of Neurology, University of Essen, from 1994 to 1996.

Before pursuing a career in medicine, Dr. Wiegand worked as a Computer-Assembler and Hardware Tester at Corona Data Systems in Thousand Oaks, California, from 1984 to 1985.

Frank Wiegand MD PhD received their MD degree from the University of Düsseldorf in 1993. Frank then pursued a PhD in cell biology of immune-mediated islet cell injury in diabetes at the same university, completing it in an unspecified year. After that, they obtained an MD Neurology Specialist Degree (equivalent to US board certification) from the University of Duisburg-Essen in an unspecified year. Additionally, Frank Wiegand MD PhD earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University in 2002.
