Sandy Cheng has a diverse and extensive work experience that spans over several industries and roles. They began their career as an Administrative Assistant at Universal Studios Hollywood, where they gained exposure to talent development and training. They then transitioned to 20th Century Fox Film as an HR/Personnel Specialist, administering personnel policies and conducting an EEO audit. Afterward, they joined Applied Materials as an Organization Development Specialist, implementing a 360° Feedback Process for senior executives. They later became a Change Management Program Manager at the same company, overseeing change management activities for a global ERP implementation. Sandy then moved to Kaiser Permanente as a Principal Consultant, where they focused on optimizing care team collaboration and enhancing service standards. They established their own Organizational Development and Team Effectiveness Consultancy, Jaya Associates, Inc., providing OD solutions and instructor-led training to global clients. Sandy then joined Stanford Health Care as an OD Practice Manager, leading the internal OD consulting practice and driving HR transformation initiatives. Most recently, they joined BeiGene, starting as an Associate Director of Learning & Development and successfully establishing the training function. They were later promoted to Director and then to Senior Director of Talent Development, playing a key role in scaling the L&D function alongside the company's growth.
Sandy Cheng holds a BA degree in English Literature and Business from UCLA, which was obtained from 1987 to 1991. Following that, they pursued an MA in Organization Design and Effectiveness from Fielding Graduate University, which was completed between 1997 and 1999. In terms of certifications, Sandy has obtained several, including Everything DiSC Workplace Certification - Classroom from Everything DiSC: A Wiley Brand in 2020 and Diversity and Inclusion in a Global Enterprise from LinkedIn in 2019. Sandy also holds certifications in Crucial Conversations, Influencer, HeartMath, Internal Operations Excellence Coach, Leadership Challenge/ LPI, Myers Briggs, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, Situational Leadership, Coaching for Capacity, Unconscious Bias, Visual Facilitation, Team Performance Model/Indicator from various institutions.
