Maaike Vancauwenberghe has been with the Belgian Science Policy Office since March 1999, currently serving as the Director of the AI Research & Infrastructure Department and as the BRAIN-be Programme Coordinator, leading initiatives to enhance research collaboration across federal scientific institutions. Additionally, Maaike manages the Antarctic Programme, overseeing scientific projects, international collaborations, and representation in key Antarctic committees. Past experience includes managing research programmes on standardisation and cultural heritage and serving as a project leader at ECOREM. Maaike holds Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Environmental Impact Studies from the University of Brussels.
