Sean Buchanan

Sean Buchanan is a seasoned biotechnology professional currently serving as Senior Vice President of Biology at Belharra Therapeutics since August 2022. Prior to this role, Sean held the position of Executive Director of Cancer Therapeutics at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, leading oncology initiatives in San Diego from July 2020 to July 2022. Sean's extensive experience at Eli Lilly and Company includes roles as Senior Research Fellow and Research Fellow, focusing on drug discovery and pharmacogenomics related to cancer. Earlier positions include Group Leader in Functional Genomics at Eli Lilly and Sr. Director of Discovery Biology at SGX Pharmaceuticals. Sean's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge, complemented by a B.A. in Natural Sciences from the same institution.
