Andrea is an experienced litigation lawyer who specialises in employment law, health and safety, alcohol licensing, civil litigation, dispute resolution and education work.
Andrea is a special counsel in Bell Gully's industry-leading employment team. She advises on a broad range of employment matters including discipline and dismissal, performance management, holidays and leave, change management and redundancy for public and private sector employers and individual clients. On health and safety matters, Andrea advises clients on their legal obligations, including drafting and reviewing clauses in contracting and funding arrangements, and assisting in investigations.
Andrea has vast experience drafting, reviewing and advising on all forms of employment agreements, policies and independent contractor agreements. This includes providing advice on collective bargaining.
She regularly represents clients in mediations and negotiations, and appears in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court. Across wider civil litigation matters, Andrea has demonstrated success contesting cases in various tribunals, the District Court, High Court and the Court of Appeal.
Andrea's extensive litigation practice also includes advising clients on public, civil and education law issues. In addition, she has a speciality in the hospitality industry providing alcohol licensing advice including applications for new licences, renewals and variations. Over her career she has represented clients including applicants, licensees, objectors, Licensing Inspectors and Medical Officers of Health at District Licensing Committee hearings, before the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority and in the High Court.
Andrea is a member of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Law Society Employment Law Committee.
