Dr. Gwyndolan Swain has over 25 years of work experience in various healthcare and academic roles. Currently, they serve as the Founding Director and Professor at Belmont Abbey College. Prior to this, they worked at Pfeiffer University in multiple positions, including Director and Associate Professor in the Department of Health Administration and Associate Program Director. Dr. Gwyndolan also held the role of Director and Associate Professor at the Pfeiffer University MHA Program. Earlier in their career, Dr. Swain worked at Carolinas Healthcare System as an Administrative Manager, where they developed and implemented programs that resulted in cost savings and efficiency improvements. Dr. Gwyndolan also served as the Clinical Manager at the Mecklenburg County Health Department, overseeing budget management and community outreach programs. Additionally, they held roles at Carolinas Heart Institute, Carolina Medical Center, TOTAL CARE OF THE CAROLINAS, CARRIAGE CLUB HOME HEALTH, and Home Health Professionals, where they gained experience in various management and leadership positions.

Dr. Gwyndolan Swain earned a BSN in Nursing from Dillard University in 1976. Dr. Gwyndolan continued their education at Pfeiffer University where they obtained a Master of Business/Master of Health Administration degree in 2003. In 2004, they completed an MBA/Master program in Health Administration at the same institution. Later, Dr. Swain attended the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated with a Doctor of Health Administration degree in 2013. Dr. Gwyndolan has additional certifications including being a CAHME Fellow from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education and completing the Peer Reviewer Course from QM Quality Matters in 2015.
