Barry Ballinger

Barry Ballinger, Ph.D., serves as an Assistant Professor at Belmont University since July 2022, following a tenure as a Doctoral Candidate at The University of Kansas from August 2014 to August 2023, where research focused on the relationship between spatial configuration and contentious politics, clientelism, urban informality, and the right to the city. Barry has presented research at various international conferences in Lisbon, Istanbul, Madison, and Lawrence. Additional experience includes roles as a Lecturer and Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Kansas, a Fulbright US Student Grantee studying politics of space in Ankara, and internships at STRATA Architecture, Treanor Architects, and HJM Architects with a focus on architectural design and historical preservation. Barry holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from The University of Kansas, a Master of Arts in Architecture from The University of Kansas, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Oklahoma State University.
