James McIntyre

James McIntyre serves as the Dean of the College of Education and Assistant Provost for Academic Excellence at Belmont University since January 2022. Previously, James held the position of Dean of the College of Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 2016 to January 2022, where achievements included directing the Leadership Academy to enhance K-12 leadership effectiveness. James also worked as Superintendent of Knox County Schools from 2008 to 2016, overseeing a large school system with a focus on student learning and strategic goal achievement. Prior experience includes roles as Chief Operating Officer for Boston Public Schools, where responsibility encompassed all non-academic district functions, and various positions in budget management and educational counseling. James holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Boston College, a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy from UMass Boston, a Master of Urban Affairs from Boston University, and a Master of Science in Education Administration from Canisius University.
