Michael Leighton

Michael Leighton serves as a Detective Lieutenant at the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, where responsibilities include managing the Confidential Investigations Unit and overseeing various investigative roles since January 2012. Prior to this, Michael held positions such as Detective Sergeant and Detective 1st Grade within the same unit, as well as a Detective role in the Major Crimes Unit. In addition to law enforcement duties, Michael is an Adjunct Professor in Forensic Science at St. Thomas Aquinas College and teaches Criminal Justice at Bergen Community College. Previous experience includes serving as a Police Officer with the New York City Police Department from 2007 to 2012. Michael holds a Master of Science in Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Law & Society from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
