Brandon Saint-John

Postdoctoral Researcher at Berkeley Lab

Brandon Saint-John is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Berkeley Lab since October 2023, previously serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Santa Cruz from September 2016 to September 2023. During this time, Brandon developed a project focused on mapping nucleosome positions utilizing Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing and implemented methods for extracting high molecular weight DNA and preparing libraries for sequencing. Additionally, Brandon co-led a summer bioinformatics boot camp from 2018 to 2021 aimed at educating underrepresented minorities in command line and Python programming skills. This involved providing resources and creating an engaging learning environment, which was adapted to an online format during the pandemic. Brandon holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, earned in December 2022, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Virginia, completed in 2016.
