Martin Kunz

Martin Kunz is a Senior Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, leading the non-ambient condition X-ray diffraction beamline at the Advanced Light Source since November 2003. Responsibilities include planning and executing user experiments, major instrument upgrades, and developing new techniques in high-pressure and high-temperature X-ray diffraction. Martin Kunz previously served as the Chief Editor for the American Mineralogist journal from 2009 to 2013 and held academic positions at the University of Basel and ETH Zurich. Prior experience includes roles as a beamline scientist at the European Radiation Synchrotron Facility and postdoctoral positions at Stony Brook University and McMaster University. Martin Kunz earned a Ph.D. in Mineralogy, Geology, and Physics from the University of Bern between 1983 and 1991.
