Betsy Newman

Interim EVP at Berklee College of Music

As the senior vice president for Student Enrollment and Engagement, Betsy Newman and her team are committed to advancing student services, programs, experiences, and supports across a student’s entire life cycle at Berklee.

Newman provides strategic vision and direction to enrollment management, including Admissions, enrollment operations, and Student Financial Services; Student Advising and Success, including Academic Advising, Accessibility Resources for Students, International Student Services, peer advising, the Registrar, retention, and tutoring; Student Affairs, Diversity, and Inclusion, including counseling, diversity programs, equity and Title IX systems, residential life, student activities, and wellness services; career strategy and services, including career development and internships; and External Affairs.

She received her undergraduate degree (B.S. in finance) from Babson College, master’s degree (Ed.M. in higher education administration) from Harvard University, and a doctorate (Ed.D. in higher education management) from the University of Pennsylvania with dissertation distinction for her research on creative entrepreneurship and leadership with specific focus on how the educational ecosystem influences students' development of their creation-driven and entrepreneurial mindsets.
