Bill Kaiser is a partner emeritus at Greylock Partners, a leading venture capital firm, headquartered in Menlo Park, California. He joined Greylock in 1986 after a career in sales and marketing with Hewlett Packard and Apollo Computer.
Kaiser is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science (1977), and has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School (1983). While an undergraduate, he played trombone in the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble, which was directed by Berklee professor Herb Pomeroy. He has been a huge music fan his whole life and enjoys many different genres and styles.
He has served on the boards of more than 30 companies in his career, including 12 that went public during his time on the board. These include Red Hat, Constant Contact, Avid Technology, MainSpring Communications, SpyGlass, Open Market, CheckFree Corporation, MapInfo, and Raptor Systems.
