Val Langenburg has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President E&S Technology at W. R. Berkley Corporation, where they lead the technology initiatives for the Excess and Surplus segment of the company. Prior to this, Val worked at Markel, where they served as Managing Director of IT Operations and Governance, overseeing global service management practices and aligning IT capabilities with business needs. They also held the role of Senior Director of Information Technology at Markel, as well as took on contract work as an Atlas Controls Lead, designing internal control structures for the organization. Before joining Markel, Val was Vice President of Internal Audit at Performance Food Group, Inc., where they were responsible for board-approved risk assessments and advising executive management on risk management practices. They also served as Vice President of Internal Audit at Collegiate Funding Services, where they established the internal audit function and led the Sarbanes Oxley certification process. Earlier in their career, Val worked as the Director of Internal Audit at Circuit City Stores, Inc. and as the AVP Accounting Director at LandAmerica OneStop.
Val Langenburg attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 1992 to 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Accounting. During this time, Val also studied Accounting and Finance at the university's School of Business, receiving a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree. Val Langenburg has an additional certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the VBOA - Virginia Board of Accountancy.
