Berks County Intermediate Unit
Christi Weitzel serves as the assistant director of the Office of Early Childhood and Student Services. Christi started her career in preschool education in 1996 as a Director/Preschool teacher at Country Meadows Childcare. In 2006, Christi began working at the BCIU in the Office of Early Childhood and Student Services as a Specialized Itinerant in Early Intervention. In 2012, Christi was appointed the Assistant Program Administrator of Early Intervention moving to the Program Administrator of Early Intervention in 2014. She served in this role until her appointment to assistant director in November 2017.
Christi earned her dual bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood from Kutztown University and her Master’s degree from Wilkes University. She also completed her supervisory certification from Eastern University.

The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) provides programs and services to public school districts, nonpublic schools, and other human service organizations of Berks County, Pennsylvania. The BCIU also is a liaison agent between the schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
