Stephanie Mueller

Stephanie Mueller is an Executive Vice President in the national issue advocacy practice and head of the firm's Washington, DC office. She brings her close to 20 years of experience managing political and issue advocacy communications to a range of clients from the Brennan Center for Justice to Advocates for Youth to the Southern Environmental Law Center. She offers guidance in every aspect of a communications campaign, with specific experience in media training and managing a crisis, and also provides strategic counsel to clients working to advance a clean energy future.

Stephanie's most recent experience was as a senior communications official in the Obama administration. As Press Secretary for US Energy Secretary Steven Chu, she led a communications operation focused on building support from the public, elected officials, and stakeholders through traditional and new media for the administration’s clean energy priorities. She joined the Energy Department after serving as Colorado Communications Director for the first Obama presidential campaign. Her previous experience includes directing political and legislative communications for a union, leading the press work for a pro-choice association of physicians and clinic staff, and managing a congressional campaign.

The member of an all-female musical comedy group in college, and daughter of a costume designer, Stephanie loves movies (particularly comedies) and the theater. She lives in DC with her husband Matt, their daughter Nora, and their pug Mochi.
