Garrett Gilbertson

Garrett Gilbertson is a prominent seed investor and founder with extensive experience in venture capital and advisory roles. Currently serving as a seed investor at HyperSpectral and PlantSwitch, Gilbertson is also the founder and managing partner at SUM Ventures, an early-stage investment firm focused on accelerating startup growth. As chairman of the Los Angeles Group at Band of Angels, Gilbertson actively invests in sectors such as cybersecurity, fintech, and enterprise software. Additional roles include investment and advisory positions at DressX, BRIUS®, Automotus, and YBVR°, as well as a pre-seed investment in PayAmigo. Gilbertson holds advanced degrees in entrepreneurship and business management from Pepperdine University and the United States Air Force Academy and has completed executive education at Harvard Business School.
