Raymond Yu began their career in education in 2000 as an Assistant Principal in Saint Paul Public Schools. Raymond later served as a Principal and then as the Director of Student Services. In 2007, they became an Elementary School Principal at Oak Grove Elementary in Bloomington Public Schools. In 2013, they joined The Blake School as the Lower School Director, and most recently, in 2022, they assumed the role of Head of School at Bertschi School.
Raymond Yu has an extensive educational background in the field of education and leadership. Raymond began their education by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Skidmore College between 1985 and 1989. Raymond then pursued further studies and received a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Thomas between 1994 and 1996.
Continuing their education, Yu enrolled at the University of Minnesota and earned an Education Specialist (EdS) degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Administration. Raymond studied at the institution from 1998 to 2007, indicating a commitment to expanding their knowledge in the area.
Yu's educational journey culminated with the completion of a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, which they obtained between 2009 and 2012. This degree further solidifies their expertise and dedication to the field.
In addition to their formal education, Raymond Yu has also obtained various certifications to enhance their skill set. Notably, they received certification in CPR/AED/First Aid from the American Heart Association in June 2021. In May 2016, they obtained an Instructor Level: Advanced Training certification from the ALICE Training Institute. Additionally, Yu achieved a Project Management Certificate from the University of Minnesota in April 2007, further illustrating their commitment to professional development.
