Director Of Early Childhood Education at Bertschi School

Shelby Brown has had extensive experience in the field of education. Shelby began their career as a 2nd Grade Teacher at Elysian Charter School of Hoboken in 2005, where they focused on creating a cooperative and caring learning environment. From 2005 to 2009, they worked at International Community School (ICS) as an EAL and Year 1 teacher, providing English language instruction and support to students aged 5-8. In 2011, they joined KIS International School as an EY teacher until 2014. During this time, they taught early years students and contributed to their language development. Since 2014, Shelby has been the Director of Early Childhood Education at Bertschi School. In this role, they designed and launched a new early childhood program, collaborated with colleagues to write curriculum and policies, built relationships with prospective families, and oversaw the department's budget. Shelby also served on numerous hiring committees with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Shelby Brown obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Pathologist from Ohio University, which they completed between 1996 and 2000. Following this, they pursued a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University-Portland, which they completed in 2018.
