Stephanie Lee began their professional career in 2005 as a Makeup Artist & Product Specialist for MAC Cosmetics. In 2008, they worked as a Field Organizer for Obama for America and as a Special Projects Manager for the Office of Chief of Staff for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee. From 2009-2010, they served as Public Engagement Manager for the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. From 2010-2014, they were a Strategic Brand Consultant for Self and a Director and Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff for the First Lady Michelle Obama at The White House. In 2014, they were a Senior Presidential Associate for ELC Ventures & Omnichannel at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. From 2015-2018, they were Global Product Innovation & Development for MAC Cosmetics. In 2018, they founded wildtypebeauty.com, a website dedicated to de-stigmatizing mental health and wellness. In 2019, they founded selfmade, a ritual-based beauty brand that connects clean, sustainable products with the human pursuit of self-exploration.

Stephanie Lee attended Athens Drive High School from 2000 to 2004 and then went on to East Carolina University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication, Public Relations in 2008.
