Scott Ring is a partner and general counsel based in the New York offices. He co-leads Bessemer’s global operations and is the head of legal and compliance activities, overseeing Bessemer’s fundraising strategy and management of investor relationships.
Scott manages Bessemer’s fundraising, fund structuring, liquidity, policy development and regulatory compliance functions, and many of the firm’s strategic initiatives. Scott also leads a team of professionals responsible for venture investment structuring, negotiation, and execution in the United States and abroad. His team partners with Bessemer’s investment professionals to improve portfolio company performance, advising on transactions (including M&A), intellectual-property strategy, incentive compensation, and other strategic operational and transactional issues faced by Bessemer funded companies.
Previously, Scott was at the Silicon Valley legal advisory firm Venture Law Group and counseled entrepreneurs and venture capitalists on new venture formation, strategic alliances, investments, exits, board governance, and operational issues.
Scott holds a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, an M.B.A from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan.
