Senior Director, Canyon Operations at Best Friends Animal Society

Bart Battista has a diverse work experience that includes roles in various companies and organizations. Bart started their career in 1997 as a student in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve in different roles such as Platoon Commander, Range Control Officer, Company Commander, Aide-de-Camp, and AT/FP Officer. Bart also worked as an Intern at ERM, where they gained experience in projects related to site assessments, soil and water quality monitoring, and HAZMAT surveys. Bart Battista was a Research Scientist at Battelle and later became the Environmental Planning Branch Head at Camp Pendleton. Bart then worked at MCB Camp Pendleton as the Deputy Director of Operations and Maintenance, Water Resources Division. Currently, they are the Senior Director of Canyon Operations at Best Friends Animal Society. Throughout their career, Bart Battista has demonstrated expertise in environmental planning, operations management, and research. Bart holds a Master's degree in ecology, evolution, and conservation biology from the Advanced Degree Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

From 2008 to 2010, Bart attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Natural Resources Management.

Prior to that, from 1993 to 1997, Bart studied at the United States Naval Academy, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Systems Engineering.

In addition to their education, Bart has obtained various certifications throughout their career. In November 2020, they obtained the Onsite Wastewater Level 3 certification from Utah DEQ. In June 2018, they became a Professional Engineer through Utah DOPL. In September 2015, Bart obtained the Professional Engineer (Environmental) certification from Arizona. In December 2013, they became an Envision Sustainability Professional through the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. Bart also obtained the USMC Environmental Management System Lead Auditor certification in September 2012, although the institution is not specified. In February 2002, Bart received the Certificate Japanese-Language Proficiency - Level 3 from the Association of International Education, Japan and The Japan Foundation. Lastly, in March 1998, Bart became an Engineer-In-Training through the State of Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
