BESTAR is a specialty steel company headquartered in Remscheid, Germany. BESTAR supplies steel for manufacturers of industrial tools, saw blades and knives. Established in 1978 to serve the local German saw and knife industry with raw material, today, more than 35 years later, BESTAR has evolved into a world class ISO 9001 certified steel supplier. BESTAR maintains two warehouses in Germany and operates four warehouses in North America. In addition, customers in Asia have a local contact with BESTAR staff in Hong Kong. BESTAR serves customers in more than 45 countries of the world.

As the world leader of steel supplied to the cutting tool, especially the saw and knife industry, BESTAR’s customers likewise are key players in their respective markets. This includes primary and secondary wood processing, hot saw/friction saw and other metal cutting applications, quarry saws, wood knives (ie. chipper, flaker, OSB), pulp and paper knives, food knives, agricultural knives, etc.

In recognition of the need for essential services and continuous improvement of the quality and value provided by a preferred steel vendor, BESTAR operates a new Metallurgical Laboratory at their headquarters. This laboratory is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment for e.g. spectrographic analysis, microstructure evaluations, decarburization depth measurements, purity/inclusion analysis and many more.
