Kurt Ochalla

Kurt Ochalla is currently an advisor at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham. Prior to that, they were the Global Head of Real Estate & Facilities at Nuance Communications from July 2018 to December 2019.

Kurt is a highly experienced real estate and facilities leader, with a proven track record in developing and executing strategies that improve quality of service, operational excellence and organizational capacity. Kurt has a strong background in capital planning, design and construction, and is skilled in developing and managing complex budgets.

At Nuance Communications, Kurt led a team of nearly 50 people responsible for providing a safe, secure, and environmentally sound workplace across all of Nuance's 75+ global locations. Kurt was responsible for driving and leading the tactical and strategic activities of the real estate & facilities department, overseeing all capital planning and construction projects, and developing initiatives to improve quality of service.

Kurt is a strong leader with the ability to build, develop, coach and manage cohesive teams. Kurt is an effective communicator with excellent problem solving skills. Kurt is a strategic thinker who can develop creative solutions to complex challenges.

Kurt Ochalla has a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kurt also has an MBA in Real Estate Finance from the University of Connecticut School of Business. In addition, they have received certification from CoreNet Global in Mentor, SLCR, and SLCR (Senior Leader Corporate Real Estate). Kurt is also certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Massachusetts Brokers License. Finally, they have received certification from CoreNet Global as a MCR (Master of Corporate Real Estate).
