Ruben J. Azocar MD, MHCM, FCCM, FASA currently serves as Vice President for Perioperative Services at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, overseeing a $330 million service line and managing 22,000 surgical cases annually. Previously, Ruben held various leadership roles at Tufts University School of Medicine and Tufts Medical Center, including Chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and Professor and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. Prior to that, Ruben was Executive Vice-Chair at Boston Medical Center and has extensive experience in educational leadership, including serving as Program Director for the Anesthesiology Residency Program and founding a clinical simulator center. Ruben is a former President of the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists and has a Master in Healthcare Management from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
