Peg Dierkers has a diverse and extensive work experience. Peg currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Bethany House Services, a position they have held since May 2022. Prior to that, they were the Chief Operations Officer at the same organization, responsible for managing two program departments that provided a full continuum of homeless services. Peg also served as the Director of Shelter Operations, where they expanded shelter capacity and reduced maintenance costs.
Before joining Bethany House Services, Dierkers worked as a Principal Consultant at Peg Dierkers Consulting since January 2017. In this role, they provided nonprofit consultation nationwide, specializing in financial policy development, strategic planning, executive leadership transitions, grant application review, and HR legal compliance.
Prior to starting their consulting firm, Dierkers served as the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, where they advocated for public policy reforms and managed $26M funding for a statewide network of service agencies.
Earlier in their career, Dierkers held roles such as Senior Vice President for Care Management at APS Healthcare, Vice President of Government Affairs at UnitedHealth Group, and Government Relations Associate at Malady and Wooten Public Affairs.
Dierkers also had significant experience in the public sector, serving as the Deputy Secretary of the Office of Medical Assistance Programs at the PA Department of Public Welfare. Peg was responsible for managing a $12 billion operating budget and implementing a $4 billion managed care program.
Overall, Dierkers has a strong background in executive leadership, program management, strategic planning, and advocacy in the nonprofit and public sectors.
Peg Dierkers pursued their education starting from their high school days at Mount Notre Dame High School in Reading, Ohio, where they completed the College/University Preparatory and Advanced High School/Secondary Diploma Program. After graduating from high school, they attended The Ohio State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communications, specializing in Public Relations, from 1975 to 1979. Continuing their academic journey, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in College Student Counseling and Personnel Services at The Ohio State University from 1979 to 1981. Peg's dedication to education led their to further enhance their qualifications with a second Master of Arts (MA) in Student Counseling and Personnel Services and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Development and Family Studies, which they completed at Penn State University from 1983 to 1993.
