Loren Gragert

Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Be The Match

Loren Gragert is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics and Genomics at Tulane University School of Medicine since September 2015, with expertise in clinical informatics, immunogenomics, and population genetics specifically related to transplantation and immune-mediated diseases. Loren serves as an independent investigator on three NIH-funded projects focused on immunogenetics and solid organ transplantation in collaboration with NYU and Penn. Additionally, Loren has been a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist with Be The Match operated by the National Marrow Donor Program since March 2003, where responsibilities include developing reference population genetic data for the donor registry matching algorithm, HapLogic, and leading diverse teams of bioinformatics professionals and software developers on various projects. Loren holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Informatics and Computational Biology from the University of Minnesota and two Bachelor's Degrees in Biochemistry and Quantitative Methods and Computer Science from the University of St. Thomas.
