David de Gijsel has been working in the medical field since 2012. David began their career as a Staff Physician at Montefiore Medical Center, followed by an Instructor in General Internal Medicine role at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. David then moved to Duke University in 2014, taking on the same role. In the same year, they also became a Staff Physician at Human Resources for Health Rwanda. In 2015, they began working at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth as an Assistant Professor and Instructor. In 2016, they took on roles as a Staff Physician, Resident - Leadership Preventive Medicine, and Fellow - Infectious Disease at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. In 2017, they became a Contracting Physician at Groups: recover together. Finally, in 2018, they joined Better Life Partners as Chief Health Officer, Medical Director, and Physician.
David de Gijsel has a long and varied educational history. Between 1995 and 1998, they attended the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and obtained a Vordiplom in Economics. From 2000 to 2008, they attended the University of Amsterdam, where they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD). David then attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 2008 to 2011, where they completed a Residency in Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine as well as a Chief Residency in Internal Medicine. In 2016, they attended the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, where they completed a Fellowship in Infectious Disease and a Residency in Leadership Preventive Medicine, as well as a Master in Public Health (MPH) in 2019. David has also obtained certifications in Addiction Medicine from the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) in 2021, Infectious Diseases from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2019, and Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2011.
