Laura Geary Cruz has held a variety of positions in the educational field since 2005. Laura began their career as an English Teacher and Team Leader at the NYC Department of Education. Laura then became a Model Teacher & Advisor for 11th and 12th Grade Literature and Autobiography, where they designed and taught project-based learning curriculum and differentiated lessons for Special Education and English Language Learners. In 2012, they became an Open Doors Teacher Mentor at the Theatre Development Fund (TDF). In 2013, they co-created and served as Project Manager for iBook: Working with High School Readers: A Digital Exploration. In 2016, they joined BetterLesson as the Director of Services, and then held the roles of Senior Manager, Learning and Development - 1:Many Services, Manager, Learning and Development - 1:Many Services, Manager of ELA Curriculum, and Instructional Coach.
Laura Geary Cruz obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) in English Education and Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2005, after completing their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Literature and Italian from Sarah Lawrence College in 2002. Laura also obtained a New York State English Language Arts (7-12) Professional Certification from the New York State Education Department in August 2005.
