Thomas van Ophem

Thomas van Ophem has a diverse work experience in the field of software development and management. Thomas has worked at multiple companies, including Betty Blocks, Holder, Soliede Opleidingen BV, and Schager Apotheek BV.

At Betty Blocks, Thomas held various roles. Thomas started as a Web Developer in 2019 and then became a Development Manager, leading a team of 35 developers, testers, and designers. In this role, they focused on helping the team grow and implementing Agile methodologies. Later, they became a Full Stack Engineer, working with Elixir, Node.js, TypeScript, and React. Thomas mainly worked on the Betty Blocks Actions domain and contributed to the team's growth.

Prior to their work at Betty Blocks, Thomas was the Head of Development at Holder, where they managed the development team. Thomas also served as a Lead Developer and Developer during their time there.

Before Holder, Thomas worked at Soliede Opleidingen BV as a Web Developer. Thomas was responsible for developing web applications using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, and Angular. Thomas also built a CRM system and a custom e-learning system.

Thomas began their career at Schager Apotheek BV as a Web Developer, where they worked from 2010 to 2013.

Thomas van Ophem attended the Stedelijk Dalton College Alkmaar from 2004 to 2010, where they obtained their VWO degree in the field of Natuur en Techniek. Following that, from 2010 to 2015, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Informatica at the University of Amsterdam. Apart from their formal education, Thomas also obtained various certifications. In April 2015, they received the Horeca Portier certification from SVH (Stichting Vakbekwaamheid Horeca). Thomas further expanded their certifications in the field of diving. In July 2019, Thomas became a Divemaster (DM), and in August 2019, they achieved the Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) Leader certification, both from PADI. Continuing their diving education, Thomas acquired additional certifications from PADI in 2022. In August 2022, they became an Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor and also obtained the Care for Children w/AED Instructor certification. In November 2022, Thomas completed the Assistant Instructor (AI) certification from PADI.
