Kurt Menking has extensive experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and management, currently serving as the GIS Manager at Bexar Appraisal District since September 1990. Prior to this role, Kurt worked as a Manager at ASI/Cartotech from 1985 to 1990 and held a managerial position at Petroleum Information from January 1977 to May 1985. Kurt holds a Bachelor's degree from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Appraisal Districts were established in each county in Texas in 1981 to appraise each property at fair market value as of January 1 of each year for ad valorem tax purposes. The Appraisal District is governed by a Board of Directors who appoints the Chief Appraiser to serve as the chief administrator of the appraisal office.
