Vincenzo Coia

Vincenzo Coia is a Senior Data Scientist I at BGC Engineering Inc. since September 2022, focusing on the development of advanced statistical and machine learning models for practical applications in environmental analysis. Previously, Vincenzo served as an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Statistics at The University of British Columbia from September 2012 to September 2022, where responsibilities included leading capstone projects and overseeing data science course development while ensuring a positive student experience. Additional experience includes roles as a Visitor Engagement Volunteer at Telus World of Science - Vancouver, engaging the public with scientific concepts, and as a Research Assistant at Brock University, contributing to statistical research. Vincenzo holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from The University of British Columbia, a Master's in Mathematical Statistics and Probability, and two Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Statistics, and Biological Sciences with a minor in Earth Science from Brock University.
