Ikkei established SARR. LLC ‒Science, ART & Research for Reconstruction, in April 2011, after the Earthquake and Tsunami 3.11. Out of SARR activities, he is also co-founder of Soramitsu, one of the leading blockchain company in the world and creates Hyperledger Iroha.
Ikkei established Hokkaido VC in 2000, the first regional and independent VC in Japan. Since then, he has been involved in more than 50 start-ups, and isconsidered as one of the pioneers in incubation of university spin-offs.
Ikkei supports NEDO, the Japanʼs largest funding organization, in TechnologyCommercialization Program, and also runs startup accelerator “kizki”in Kyoto and a committee member of “Science, Technology and Academy Board” of the Japanese Government.
