Alvaro Valdes Mena

Alvaro Valdes Mena serves as the Chief Data and Analytics (& AI) Officer at BICE Vida since April 2020, where responsibilities include leading the data strategy to transition the company into a "Data Driven" organization through a center of excellence focused on Data operations, Governance, Advanced Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. Previously, Alvaro held roles as Advanced Analytics Leader at BICE Vida and Analytics Specialist at BIC Consulting CHi. Experience also includes positions at Ripley Chile, where Alvaro established business insights and analytics teams, and academic positions at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, as a Teaching Assistant in Quantitative Text Analysis and Political Economy. Alvaro’s earlier career includes significant contributions to housing policy at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in Chile and logistics management at Fundación CasaBasica. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and dual Master's degrees in Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
