Julian Riba

Julian Riba currently serves as the Head of Global R&D Life Science Solutions at BICO since March 2025. Previously, Julian Riba was the CEO at CYTENA from January 2016 until September 2025, focusing on accelerating the development of modern therapies. Before this role, Julian Riba held various positions at IMTEK, University of Freiburg, including PhD Student and Project Leader, where responsibilities included project acquisition, research and development in liquid handling, single-cell isolation, and microfluidics teaching. Additionally, Julian Riba was a Research Scholar at Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) in 2011, working on microfluidic printhead design and battery electrode fabrication. Julian Riba earned a PhD from the University of Freiburg and a Dipl.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, complemented by a visit to the University of Alberta as a graduate student.
