Axel Kaban is an experienced professional in analytics and technology, currently serving as the Director of Analytics & Technology at Whole Whale since October 2018. Kaban focuses on building a high-performing team of data analysts and technologists, promoting continuous learning, and fostering a data-driven culture within nonprofits. Previously, Kaban held roles as Senior Data Engineering Manager and Data Engineering Manager at Whole Whale, where responsibilities included planning and executing data pipelines as well as implementing storage solutions for Google Analytics. In addition to analytics work, Kaban has contributed to community education as a Youth Program Bike Instructor at Bike New York and served as an advisor at Codecademy. Kaban's professional journey includes training in software engineering at General Assembly and practical experiences with various organizations, showcasing a strong background in data science, web development, and technical instruction. Kaban holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from CUNY New York City College of Technology and a Web Development certificate from General Assembly.

Bike New York
Bike New York is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to facilitate & promote cycling in New York City through education, public events, & collaboration with community organizations & municipal agencies. Our vision is to encourage cycling as a safe & sustainable means of transit and recreation, & to elevate cycling as a healthy compliment to New Yorkers’ daily lives. Working with the Department of Transportation & other city agencies, Bike New York provides access to cycling for New Yorkers by offering free bicycling education classes for kids & adults in all five boroughs, informational school assemblies & after-school programs, & a summer program for youth enrolled in organized camp groups. Since 2011, these education programs have reached more than 17,500 New Yorkers. These free classes are funded through public events, most notably the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, America’s largest cycling event. With more than 32,000 cyclists, this ride brings bike enthusiasts from all over the world to enjoy 40 miles of traffic-free streets in New York City. Bike New York also produces Bike Expo New York (BE NY), presented by Eastern Mountain Sports. With more than 43,000 attendees, the inaugural BE NY was the largest free consumer bike expo in the country. Proceeds from this event help to fund Bike New York’s education programs.
