Ajoy Chakrabarti

Ajoy Chakrabarti is an experienced professional in vaccine development and strategic investment management, currently serving as the Portfolio & Platform Lead for Polio at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation since April 2016. In this role, Ajoy provides strategic guidance on Polio vaccine investments, spearheads new grant initiatives, and contributed to research on pandemic response, notably publishing findings during the early stages of COVID-19. Prior to this position, Ajoy held key leadership roles at Emergent BioSolutions, leading various high-profile vaccine projects, and also served as Director of Product Development at the National Institutes of Health's Vaccine Research Center. Ajoy's career began in post-doctoral roles at Gilead Sciences and UC Santa Cruz, followed by positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb in product management. Ajoy holds an MBA from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from The University of British Columbia, and degrees in Biochemistry from Carleton University.
