Deputy Director, Vaccine Access at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Gian Gandhi is a seasoned professional in vaccine access and health economics, currently serving as the Deputy Director for Vaccine Access at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation since June 2023. Prior to this role, Gandhi held key positions at UNICEF from January 2018 to April 2023, including Chief of the Centre for Health Emergencies Strategy & Partnerships, where coordination of the strategic supply response for Covid-19 tools was a primary focus. Other noteworthy roles at UNICEF included COVAX Coordinator, overseeing vaccine supply across low- and middle-income countries, and Chief of Market Shaping and Supplier Financing, aimed at improving access and affordability for children's health products. Earlier experience includes leadership positions at GAVI Alliance as Head of Policy Development, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative as Director of Policy Research & Analysis, and GlaxoSmithKline as Programme Leader in Health Economics & Outcomes Research. Gian Gandhi obtained a Master’s of Science in Health Economics from the University of York and a BA in Economics from the University of Nottingham.
