Joel Alvarez has extensive work experience in regulatory compliance, operations, and labeling in the pharmaceutical industry. From 1996 to 2003, they worked at Wyeth BioPharma, where they focused on documentation and regulatory systems. Joel then joined Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as a Regulatory Operations & Technology specialist from 2003 to 2005. Joel then moved to Wyeth Research, where they worked on global regulatory submissions management from 2005 to 2007. From 2007 to 2014, Joel served as the Director of Global Regulatory Operations & Technology at Shire Human Genetic Therapies Inc., and also briefly worked in International Regulatory Affairs. Joel then joined Takeda Vaccines Inc. as the Sr. Director and Head of Regulatory Operations, Labeling & Compliance, where they worked from 2014 to 2018. Currently, Joel is serving as the Global Regulatory Compliance, Operations and Labeling Leader at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute since October 2018.
Joel Alvarez holds a Master's degree in Regulatory Affairs for Drugs, Biologics, and Medical Devices from Northeastern University. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Southern New Hampshire University.
