Foruhar Shiva

Foruhar Shiva has a strong background in data engineering and management. They began their career as a Software/Database Developer at Rayan Nazm, where they developed software systems and designed databases. They then worked as a Software Engineer at Daystar Information Technology Consultants, focusing on website development and UI/UX design. At Arizona State University, Foruhar served as an Instructor/Teaching Assistant and later as a Doctoral Researcher, where they designed and developed a new language for querying event streams.

Foruhar's career in data engineering took off when they joined BCV Solutions as a Senior Data Engineer, where they developed stored procedures and implemented data quality measures. At The Advisory Board Company, they served as an Integration Engineer, leading data discovery efforts and designing data extraction processes.

Foruhar then joined Aetna as a Lead Data Engineer, leading the engineering effort for a successful project that resulted in significant savings for the company. They also developed fuzzy logic for provider address resolution. They later joined Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. as a Lead Data Engineer and eventually became the Senior Data Science Manager - Engineering, where they led multiple teams and built the core data engineering team for the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics hub.

Most recently, Foruhar worked as a Senior Data Engineer at NTERSOL and is currently working as a Principal Data Engineer at Surest. Both roles have allowed them to utilize their expertise in developing and deploying data pipelines and integrations using various tools and technologies.

Foruhar Shiva holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University, which they completed in 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Science - Intelligent Systems from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic in 2005. Foruhar also holds a Bachelor of Engineer (BSc) degree in Computer Software Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, completed in 2002. In addition to their formal education, Foruhar Shiva has obtained various certifications in Machine Learning from the University of Washington, including specialization, clustering and retrieval, classification, regression, and foundations, with completion dates ranging from 2015 to 2017.
